The Charge D’ Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain to Malawi, who is based in Harare, Zimbabwe, Ms Ximena Sartori, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Honourable Dr. George T. Chaponda, M.P., on 20th October, 2014.
During the meeting the two governments agreed to explore programmes that Malawi would benefit from Spain’s donation of US$5 million which was pledged to Malawi under the framework agreement on Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Malawi and Spain signed in New York in September, 2014.
Furthermore, the two countries discussed the promotion of trade and investment and that Spanish investors could consider investing in the Nsanje World Inland Port, as well as in transportation on the Shire-Zambezi Waterway; mining; energy; and the GreenBelt Initiative (GBI).
