BILATERAL RELATIONS

Relations between Malawi and Germany date back to the 1960s.

COOPERATION WITH MALAWI

Germany has over the years assisted Malawi by providing funding in various areas ranging from primary education; rural health facilities; family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention; micro, small, and medium scale enterprise promotion; animal health; horticulture; and consolidation of democracy.

Since 2007, Germany has, in coordination with other donors, aligned its assistance to the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy in education; health; and democratic decentralization.
