RELATIONS WITH MALAWI
Diplomatic relations with Malawi date back to 1964, when Malawi gained independence.
COOPERATION WITH MALAWI
Cooperation between Malawi and Uganda is mainly at the multilateral and regional level. For example, through common membership of international and regional groupings like the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), and the Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA), Malawi and Uganda share common positions aimed at achieving development in Africa in general, and the Eastern and Southern African region in particular.
Trade between Malawi and Uganda remains low. However, there is potential for increased trade between the two countries.
