The Bilateral Affairs Division is responsible for promoting political and economic relations with individual countries in Europe. Europe has some of Malawi’s major traditional partners which include: the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, Norway and Belgium, among others. The European Union is also Malawi’s major multilateral partner. The Directorate engages with Malawi Missions based in Europe and European Diplomatic Missions in Malawi. Malawi has four Missions in Europe namely; London, Brussels, Berlin and Geneva while six European Missions are resident in Malawi namely: Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Iceland and the European Union Delegation.
The division also manages structured interactions with EU member states under such arrangements as the Malawi/EU political dialogue, the UK/Africa Investment Summits and the Russia/Africa Summits.
