Presentation of Letters of Credence by His Excellency Andrew Kumwenda, Malawi High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania
His Excellency Andrew Kumwenda, Malawi High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania, who is also accredited to Burundi, Seychelles, Comoros and Rwanda, presented his letters of credence to His Excellency Evaristo Ndayishìmiye, President of the Republic of Burundi, on Monday, 27th June, 2022. During the ceremony, the Malawi envoy conveyed a message of goodwill from His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, to His Excellency Ndayishimiye, the government and people of Burundi. Subsequent discussions centered on promoting relations between Malawi and Burundi. President Ndayishimiye expressed interest to visit Malawi and to join the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Apart from presenting the letters of credence, Mr. Kumwenda also participated in the Burundi Diplomatic Week held under the theme: "Active diplomacy at the service of agricultural development and the strengthening of national sovereignty." Mr. Kumwenda wrapped up his activities in Bujumbura, Burundi, by attending the 60th Independence Anniversary celebrations on 1st July, 2022.
