His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, has just left the World Bank office in Washington DC, where he held discussions with Mr. Axel Von Trotsenburg, Managing Director of the World Bank Group, on the benchmarks Malawi is aiming for to fast track the disbursement of US$1.5 billion dollars the Bank has approved for projects in Malawi.

The President's meeting at the World Bank immediately followed his visit to the Headquarters of the International Monetary Fund, where he held discussions with Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of IMF, in pursuit of a Credit Facility for Malawi.
